Carl Frech studied Visual Communication at Universität der Künste in Berlin. Subsequently he worked 11 years at MetaDesign AG and there, lately until the beginning of 2002, in function of his job in the executive board, he had a leading role concerning the company‘s built-up. He was in charge of the fields information design, interface design, brand development and strategic communication, software development, implementation, industrial design, online strategy and mobile technologies. Especially with his core competence innovation development he was active for the integration of the company‘s activities and the development of new work activities of MetaDesign AG.
Today Carl Frech is partner and supervisory board chairman of Fuenfwerken Design AG, co-founder and partner of Intuity Media Lab GmbH, as well as founder and chairman of NEXT AT eG, a project orientated network of design, communication and media companies.
He is working as a consultant for the industry and for design, communication and media technology companies, he gives lectures and workshops concerning the subjects design, innovation and communication.
Besides various other volontary activities, Carl Frech is member of the executive board of Internationales Designzentrum Berlin, as well as the board of trustees of CREATE BERLIN eV.
He is member of the jury of various Austrian subsidy programs, including the departure CLASSIC and aws Impulse LEAD.
Since october 2005 Carl Frech teaches as a professor at the university of applied sciences at Würzburg in the fields of design, concept and outline/layout with the focus on innovation.
Since april 2011 he is also teacher at the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam.
He lives with his family in Berlin.
