Flow-based Image and Video Abstraction

This project investigates automatic non-photorealistic image processing techniques for the creation of simplified stylistic illustrations from color images, videos and 3D renderings based on the bilateral and difference of Gaussians filters. (more...)

Anisotrophic Kuwahara Filter

This project investigates automatic non-photorealistic image processing techniques for the creation of simplified stylistic illustrations from color images, videos and 3D renderings based on generalizations of the Kuwahara filter. (more...)

Coherence-Enhancing Filtering

This project investigates automatic non-photorealistic image processing techniques for the creation of simplified stylistic illustrations from color images, videos and 3D renderings based on  adaptive line integral convolution in combination with directional shock filtering. (more...)

3D Clipping Technology

This rendering technique enables pixel-precise clipping of geometry against arbitrary 3D volumes, which can be represented by solid polygonal geometry. This general form of clipping has various applications. This general from of clipping is the foundation for the implementation of 3D lenses and cut-away views to facilitate the application of advanced visualization techniques to virtual 3D city and landscape models.

3D Point Cloud Rendering Technology

This point-based rendering technique enables real-time image synthesis of massive point data using out-of-core technology. The technique can be used to make out-of-core real-time visualization and exploration of massive 3D point clouds feasible.

Piecewise Perspective Projections

High quality rendering technique for various nonlinear projections. Main feature is compatibility to all NPR rendering effects. The implementation based on the tessellation unit can be integrated into a scenegraph rendering system. Can be used for implementing focus&context effects that use custom projections or for nonplanar displays. The projection can be changed easily on the fly (e.g., for moving lenses).
