Campus

An inspiring place to work - a pleasant place to relax
The Hasso Plattner Institute is located in Potsdam-Babelsberg, on the edge of Berlin not far from the Film and Media Park and in the direct vicinity of a lake, the Griebnitzsee. The 30,000 square meter campus, set in green surroundings, is easily accessible by metropolitan train (S-Bahn) and bus. There are sufficient parking spaces for private cars. The park-like campus with its tall trees, small lake and water fountains offers an inspiring atmosphere for work and ideal surroundings for relaxing. Two three-story buildings - the HPI building A-B-C incorporating the cafeteria and the University of Potsdam´s Institute of Informatics - a two-story building - the lecture-room section with a total capacity of 490 - and the sandstone colored HPI main building catch the eye with their simple yet elegant design.
The centerpiece of the campus is "Mr. Net", an interactive sculpture by the contemporary Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, which responds to its environment with ethereal sounds and light effects. The campus library, the neighboring Student Village with its nine houses, the refectory and various food shops and restaurants are all located within easy walking distance. The city-bound metropolitan train takes seven minutes to Potsdam and 30 minutes to Berlin. The nearest shopping center can be reached by bus in 15 minutes.
