OTM Evaluation, June 2009

This experiment has been designed and conducted by Matthias Quasthoff and Harald Sack to measure the software development experience for Semantic Web applications. The experiment started with a comparison of traditional Semantic Web software development using Jena, and a recent approach using Object Triple Mapping (OTM), currently using our own OTM implementation.

For now, we offer the experiment assignments and questionnaire and the pilot-test data in a raw format. Eight students from HPI participated during pilot-testing. The experiment is planned to be held with 50 participants. By the end of July, 2009, we will be able to present the ongoing experiment's results, and ongoing improvements on the experiment. We hope to be able to evalute more RDF libraries, programming languages, and Object Triple Mappers, in order to find out how to obtain the most usable Semantic Web software on the one hand side, and the most happy software developers on the other hand side, to ensure that developers will actively opt for Semantic Web technologies in their projects.

If you are interested in participating or conducting the experiment in your organisation, do not hesitate contacting Matthias Quasthoff.
