Internet-Technologies and Systems are in the center of research and teaching of the chair of Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel. He and his team of scientific co-workers, post-docs, doctorands, and students are focused on Future Internet Technologies and Applications, particularly on 

• Securit and Trust Engineering - Network Security, Internet security, SOA-security, information security -,
• Web-university - Web-based learning (e-learning) and teaching (tele-teaching) and MOOCs -, 
• Social web, Semantic Web, Service Web - Web 3.0 -, 
• eHealth and Secure Telemedicine - tumor documentation, and personalized medicine -, and
• Innovation Research in Design Thinking.

In the past Christoph Meinel and his team also scientifically contributed in the fields Complexity and efficent algorithms and data structures, in particular on  Binary Decision Diagrams - BDDs.

Auftragsforschung: Die in der akademischen Forschung und im Rahmen von Drittmittelprojekten erzielten Resultate werden publiziert, anhand selbstentwickelter Pilotsysteme auf ihre Praxistauglichkeit hin überprüft und dann der Wirtschaft übergeben. 

Teleteaching und E-Learning-Angebote: Das Team um Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel entwickelt und erprobt IT-Systeme zur technologischen Unterstützung der universitären Lehre, z.B.

• die Plattform openHPI zum Angebot von interaktiven Online-Kursen  (MOOCs),
• das mobile tele-TASK System zur Aufzeichnung von Vorlesungen, 
• die Internetportal www.tele-task.de zur Präsentation und Personalisierung  von z.Z. mehr als 4000 Telelectures, 
• die virtuellen Internet-Labore Tele-Lab IT-Security und SOA-Lab, oder
• das Tele-Board System zur interaktiven Unterstützung verteilter Designer- und Entwicklerteams.
