On April 28 and 29, a joint workshop of research school members and supervisors from both HPI and the University of Cape Town took place at ICT4D Center in Cape Town, South Africa.

Each attendee got the chance to present their work to their colleagues and receive feedback during the subsequent discussion session. But even between the working sessions, students and supervisors exchanged their ideas and discussed possible areas for future cooperations.

From March 1st until March 5th, 2011, the HPI presented a selection of current research projects at the world's largest computer expo - CeBIT. Amongst others, research school members Martin Beck, Uwe Hentschel, Dieter Hildebrandt, Jan Klimke, Christian Neuhaus, Sebastian Pasewaldt, Alexander Schmidt, Jan-Arne Sobania, and Ivonne Thomas were chosen to present their projects to the interested visitors.

On November 2^nd, 2010, SAP invited members of the HPI Research School to the SAP Labs in Palo Alto (CA), USA, for a joint symposium. The event featured presentations by both members of the research school and SAP labs with topics that covered a broad range of research areas. Please find the agenda here.

Additionally, the research school delegation was invited to visit the Palo Alto office of HP labs to present their work, get insights into latest developments at HP, and exchange ideas about possible future collaborations.

The workshop with the HPI Research School on Scalable Computing took place on Monday 22nd of November 2010 at the Technion in Haifa.

During this workshop, five PhD students of the HPI Research School and eight PhD students of the Technion presented their research topics. This was followed by a lively discussion on research collaboration at an informal meeting on Tuesday 23rd. More Information.

From June 16 to June 18, 2010, the fifth symposium of the Research School took place at Hasso-Plattner-Institut, Potsdam, Germany.

The symposium on "Future Trends in Service-oriented Computing" (FutureSOC) 2010 not only gave members of the research school and fellow researchers from other institutions the possibility to present their recent work to a broader audience, but again featured distinguished speakers from major companies that shape tomorrow's service oriented computing landscape. More information.

On June 18 to June 19, 2009, the fourth symposium of the Research School takes place at Hasso-Plattner-Institut, Potsdam, Germany.

The symposium on "Future Trends in Service-oriented Computing" (FutureSOC) 2009 highlights the recent work of some Research School members and outlines new trends in the area of Service-oriented Computing. More information.

The 5^th Ph.D. retreat of the Research School took place on October 23th and 24th. Together with the HPI professors, including Prof. Hasso Plattner, the members of the Research School discussed the current states of their research activities and future plans. Also the new members introduced themselves to the other members of the school.

On June 19 to June 20, 2008, the third symposium of the Research School took place at Hasso-Plattner-Institut, Potsdam, Germany.

The 4^th Ph.D. retreat of the Research School took place on April 18th. Together with the HPI professors the members of the Research School discussed the current states of the research activities and future plans.

The 3^rd Ph.D. retreat of the Research School took place on October 18th and 19th. During the two days in Rheinsberg, the Ph.D. students presented and discussed their research activities together with the HPI professors. Also the new Ph.D. students introduced themselves to their new collegues.

The 2^nd Ph.D. retreat of the "Service-Oriented Systems Engineering" Research School took place on April 20th, 2007, at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut in Potsdam. Together with the HPI professors the members of the Research School discussed the current states of the research activities and future plans.

The Research School on "Service-Oriented Systems Engineering" presented itself at the SAP booth on CeBIT 2007 in Hannover (hall 4, booth D12). On March 18^th, 2006, from 13:15 pm to 14:15 pm, four members of the school gave a one-hour presentation, introducing themselves and their work.

Furthermore, the Hasso-Plattner-Institute was presented by two of its research groups at CeBIT.

On October 19th and 20th in Rheinsberg, took place the 1^st Ph.D. retreat of the "Service-Oriented Systems Engineering" Research School. During the first day the students had the possibility to present and discuss their research activities together with HPI professors, researchers and fellow Ph.D. students. The second day was dedicated to the new students who had the chance to introduce themselves and present their previous work.

Supported by the Research School the Hasso-Plattner-Institute organized a SummerCamp for pupils at the end of June 2006. At this camp the participants learned that software development is much more than only programming. The hole development process from idea to product was portrayed and even underwent in a small project. More information.

On June 21st and June 22nd, 2006 the HPI Research School was opened with an evening celebration and a full-time scientific conference on "Service-Oriented Systems Engineering".
