"Security Engineering of Service-Based IT Systems"
(
Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel)

Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) is a newly emerging paradigm for distributed computing and e-business processing that utilizes services as fundamental elements to enable building agile networks of collaborating business applications distributed within and across organizational boundaries. Services are self-contained, platform-independent computational elements that can be described, published, discovered, orchestrated and deployed for the purpose of developing distributed applications across networks, including the Internet. However, before such Service-Oriented IT Systems can be used in practice various security issues have to be addressed and many demanding security problems have to be solved.
In the HPI-Research School we actually plan to investigate

  • Service Privacy and Security
  • Security Aspects in Service Composition
  • Deployment of Security Technologies like Digital Signatures
  • Identity Management and Trust Delegation and other interesting and demanding security aspects in service-oriented computing
  • and more ...

Reserarch is focused on designing, implementing and evaluating various security technologies as well as on applying these technologies in telemedicine.
