Am 17. November 2011 wurde in der ostchinesischen Stadt Nanjing die "HPI Research School at Nanjing University" eröffnet. HPI-Direktor Prof. Christoph Meinel begrüßte dort die ersten fünf chinesischen Doktoranden und ihre betreuenden Professoren von der Nanjing University. Die Doktoranden der Informatik-Fakultät erweitern den Kreis der Kolleg-Teilnehmer des HPI auf insgesamt 50 Informatiker. Gemeinsam erforschen die hochtalentierten jungen Wissenschaftler aus aller Welt Themen aus dem Bereich serviceorientierter IT-Systeme.
Die chinesischen Doktoranden in Nanjing, der gut 300 Kilometer nordwestlich von Shanghai gelegenen alten Hauptstadt des Landes mit rund acht Millionen Einwohnern, forschen schwerpunktmäßig zum Thema "Mass Data Analytics and Knowledge Discovery".
