Project: Hybrid HANA Cluster Computing for Predictive Modeling of Anticancer Drug Sensitivity

Abstract: Advances in systems biology enable to treat complex diseases such as cancer based on an individual’s genome and mutations. However, this involves solving large mathematical models. The goal of this research proposal is to build a simulation infrastructure that combines the simplicity and flexibility of an inmemory- database for data exploration, analysis and visualization in combination with the computational power and scheduling as well as communication features of a computing cluster. Run-time behaviour and usability of the simulation infrastructure for predictive modeling of anticancer drug sensitivity will be tested with large data sets.
