Project: Next Generation Sequencing: From Computational Challenges to Biological Insight

Abstract: The aim of this project is to analyze the interplay of small molecules with cellular and inflammatory processes and to study mechanisms underlying gene regulation on the single cell level. Hitherto, most experiments have been conducted using pooled cell populations. Single cell analyses can provide unique opportunities to discover exclusive characteristics of a diseased cell state and to develop new compounds for prevention and treatment. In this project in particular inflammatory processes shall be studied using approaches such as chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP-seq) coupled to next generation sequencing (NGS) and transcriptome profiling using RNA-seq.
