Defer editor updates until visible

Description
On system changes, editors may need to be updated (toolbars, lists, buttons...).
Can we defer that until the editor becomes visible?
Maybe even a click could be useful to update the editor, but it has to be visually "OUTDATED" (maybe covered in sepia or so....)
